Candle Care

We have a 100% guarantee on our candles. If you are not satisfied, just return them to the person you purchased them from. Here are some helpful hints on burning any candle.

  • Little House Candles does not use any lead wicks in our candles.  The metal core is a zinc core.

The circumference of the candle determines the proper burning time. Our 4 oz. jelly jar should only be burned for two to three hours at a time; while our 28 oz. quart jar should be burned for no less than three hours at time.  Too little or too long burning can cause the candle to burn poorly.

Wick care is also a very important part of burning a candle. It is generally recommended to trim the wick to ¼ of an inch. (This is slightly smaller than a sharp pencil point) before each lighting. If the candle is smoking while it is burning, blow it out, wait for the candle to cool, and trim the wick. If the candle is not burning all the way across the jar, let the wick grow a little longer.

It is also recommended to keep candles away from drafts such as windows, heating vents, or busy doorways. A regular draft will push the flame to one side causing the candle to burn poorly.

Our candles should be stored at room temperature. Direct sunlight WILL cause fading in as little as five minutes. Heat WILL cause swelling. The wax melts completely at 135 degrees. Please don’t leave the candles in unprotected places such as trunks, sheds, garages and back seats.

If you follow the above, you should get many hours of enjoyment out of your candle.
